Melissa Mabanta is a Canadian born professional golfer competing on the LPGA Symetra Tour, Canadian Women’s Tour and Cactus Tour.

 

Melissa was born in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on November 2, 1988 to Fausto ‘Toti’ Mabanta and Concepcion Mabanta. She has two older siblings Justin Mabanta and Christina Mabanta. Melissa’s parents introduced her to golf at age 10 and soon her enjoyment of the game led her to dedicate all her time to practice and pursue her dream of playing professional golf. As a junior golfer, Melissa moved to Phoenix, Arizona to attend Xavier College Preparatory. Her senior year she was named Most Valuable Player, won both Regional and State championships and was asked to be apart of the Canadian National Team. In 2006, Melissa received a scholarship to play D1 women’s golf at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In 2010, she graduated and earned her degree in Sports Management and Business Marketing. She turned professional in May 2011.

 

Melissa also enjoys watching sports, hot pilates, dancing, going to the horse tracks,  and being surrounded with her family and friends.
